Safer Internet Day 2025

Safer Internet Week: Empowering students for a secure digital future

Safer Internet Day 2025

Once again, Churchward School proudly joined the global initiative of Safer Internet Day (even though we celebrate it all week long), working with students from Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 to equip them with essential skills to navigate the digital world safely.
For KS3 students, the focus was on identifying online scams. We explored real-life scenarios, from phishing emails to fake social media advertisements, helping students recognise warning signs such as suspicious links, urgent language and offers ‘too good to be true’.
With KS4 and KS5 students, we explored more complex digital threats, such as online impersonation, investment fraud and money-muling schemes. Students also engaged in critical conversations about victim blaming and the need for a supportive online community.
In all key stages, we discussed online sexual extortion emphasising the importance of reporting suspicious activity and seeking support.
The sessions sparked great discussions, with students sharing personal experiences and strategies to protect themselves and others.
As educators, we remain committed to fostering a safer, more informed digital environment. The internet is constantly evolving, but with the right knowledge and vigilance, we can all play a part in making it a safer space for everyone.
