Safer Internet Day 2024
|
In Term 3, Churchward School participated once again in Safer Internet Day 2024, along with schools and youth organisations across the UK. Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers and more, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote at Churchward School, and celebrating Safer Internet Day was a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year. Some of the activities our students participated in included:
- Monday morning assembly focusing on the theme
- PSHCE lessons focusing on exploring respect and relationships online
It was brilliant that we were able to involve parents and carers at home, by offering a free Safer Internet Day Resource to aid in the interactions between our young people on the topic. In PSHCE, we could not be more pleased with the meaningful discussions the students engaged in about topics such as Artificial Intelligence, the progression of technology throughout the years and the change in online experiences when turning 18. It was a great success, and further evidence that it is an imperative topic that we are proud to be able to address.
